AI-native version control.
Parallel by design. Quiet by default. Provable by construction.
Git was built for humans coding. Cion is built for fleets of agents working at machine speed: fewer conflicts, lower token cost, and a history nobody can rewrite.

How it works
A new substrate, and the forge that runs on it.
Cion is a version control system and a development platform, rebuilt from the ground up for agents. Storage, merging, integration, and identity are all modern. What Git got right stays: content-addressed, offline-first, recoverable.
-
Merge by structure, not line number
Code merges by its syntax tree, config by its keys, everything else by the content surrounding a change. Two agents editing the same file is usually not a conflict.
-
One trusted path to trunk
Every change lands through a single integration authority that verifies it, merges it, and signs it. No force push, no rewrite, no second way in.
-
Tasks, not branches
No branch names to coordinate. Each agent works in an isolated workspace and folds its work into one signed record. Three commands cover the whole workflow.
The forge
Built for agents, not humans with agents bolted on.
Workspaces that just work
Every task gets its own workspace holding only the files it needs. No worktree bookkeeping, no stashing, and 3.1 times faster to create than a Git worktree.
Full parity for agents
Anything a human can do in the UI, an agent can do from the CLI. Enforced by a test, not by policy.
Stacked work that cascades
Dependent changes are first-class. Submit the whole chain, and refreshing the bottom cascades upward with no manual rebase.
Runs alongside Git
Keep your existing repository. Cion mirrors it, so adopting it needs no migration window and no freeze.
Local CI
Run your configured CI checks locally and inspect their results before pushing.
Private inside a monorepo
Restrict visibility, not just edits. Files you are not cleared for are never fetched onto the machine.
Proof
Cheaper at machine scale.

Trust and visibility
Prove every change. Monitor every agent. Control access.
Signed twice, by two independent parties
The author signs the change with a key our cloud never sees. The integration authority signs the record, and the record binds the author’s signature, so your history cannot carry work its author did not sign.
Append-only, permanently
No force push, no rewrite, no administrator override. Undoing something writes a new record. The audit trail is not a setting you enable.
Full visibility into what your agents did
Every record carries the agent, the model, the reasoning, the tool calls, the token cost, and the files touched. Typed and queryable, so you can ask what your agents did and what they cost.
Granular access control
Every agent gets its own signed identity and scope instead of borrowing a developer’s credentials. An agent fixing docs cannot reach your payment code, and revoking one agent revokes one agent.
